Dr. Nasrin Mani Travels to Tijuana to Provide Eye Care to Girls in Orphanage
It’s not every day you get the opportunity to help a community in need. Fortunately, Dr. Nasrin Mani has had the pleasure of helping young girls at the Los Angelitos Orphanage located in Tijuana Mexico, offering regular eye exams to help detect and properly treat underlying eye conditions.
For the past 6 years, Dr. Mani has been sponsoring the orphanage, which consists of approximately 30 girls who have had the odds stacked against them from the very beginning. Not only has Dr. Mani provided financial support for the girls at the orphanage, she has also provided necessary funding to build an entirely new facility.
Dr. Mani came across the Los Angelitos Orphanage when she operated on the founder of the organization.
“I visit as often as my time and schedule allow for it,” Dr. Mani said. “I plan to visit for Easter. When I do visit the orphanage, I provide medical eye exams and play with the children. I get to talk to all the girls, make them feel valuable and always encourage them to stay in school and become successful women.”
Along with playing a behind-the scenes role, Dr. Mani brings over 25 years of experience in the medical field to her volunteer position as the Medical Director of the orphanage.
“I never had any kids of my own,” Dr. Mani said. “And I am so happy to have this chance to treat children who would otherwise go without care. I feel blessed to be able to be there to help them.”
Dr. Mani is a board-certified ophthalmologist and eye surgeon and is the founder of La Jolla Cosmetic Laser Clinic located in the San Diego, California area.
